Travel from Dar to the Selous Game Reserve by Air |
The camp situated in the north eastern part of the Selous on a high bank overlooking the mighty Rufiji River and the plains beyond. The camp accommodates guests in 20 very comfortable tents. Each tent has twin bed with mosquito nets, completely equipped private bathroom and comfortable verandah facing a magnificent view.
In the afternoon take a boat safari along the Rufiji River along this impressive river which boasts highest concentration of hippopotamus in Tanzania. |

The Selous Game Reserve |
This day starts early in the morning with a walking safari escorted by an armed ranger, after 4 hours you break for lunch in the bush; after lunch take a game drive until sunset and then return to your camp. |

Udzungwa National Park |
This trip involves crossing the Northern Selous and you will be able to enjoy game viewing en-route. The Udzungwa contain plant species found nowhere else in the world, ranging from a tiny newly discovered African violet to 30m high trees. The plateau contains resident populations of elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, wild dog, sable antelope, eland and water buck. This is a park without roads; here you must walk to experience the spectacular mountain scenery with rainforest, wooded grasslands, rock faces, rivers and waterfalls. The falls on the Sanje River drop some 170m through the forest to the valley below. The mountain plateau allows views of over 100km, much of it across a mosaic of mountain forest and grassland. |

Today will be spent walking in through pristine rain forest. Once you reach Sanje waterfalls enjoy spectacular views of the wide Kilombero Valley. |

The main feature in here is the open grasslands of the Mikumi flood plain which is bordered on two sides by mountain ranges. On the southern end is the yellow baboon, impalas, reedbucks and antelope. Some distance to the north are the hippo, as well as water birds. The area around these pools is open plain where you can see the Lichtenstein's hartebeest, Elephant, Giraffe and the rare wild dog. The entire day is spent on game drives or if you prefer to relax spend the day or afternoon at the camp. |
